Of all the cities we visited in Spain, Barcelona was definitely our favourite. The architecture was beautiful, the food was amazing, and the drinks… Oh the drinks.

If we’re being honest, a good chunk of our time was spent drinking beer outside of the Sagrada Familia, drinking wine on the balcony of our Air BnB, and drinking absenta in the most amazing little absinthe bar in the Barceloneta. (Seriously, you can’t miss this place!) So what better way to spice up your Barcelona experience than with a classic drinking game?

How Did We Get Here?: Adam’s View

So how did I end up moving to China to teach Drama and English to children? Never in my lifetime had I thought about teaching children in China, or teaching children in any country for that matter. I have no experience working with children, especially with children who don’t understand a damn thing I’m saying. But here we are, three weeks later. I still have no idea what I’m doing and I suspect I won’t for at least a little while longer.

I think it’s easy to say that we, as humans, enjoy being comfortable. We like knowing where life is going to lead us. We like knowing what we’re going to do tomorrow and the next day. We like knowing that there is a roof above our heads and food in our bellies. We like knowing that the bed we sleep in at night is familiar and, well, comfortable.

How Did We Get Here?: Rose’s View

Packing up our sweet little apartment, leaving my jobs, and saying goodbye to my friends and family was so hard. But dealing with the homesickness and culture shock I’ve experience in China has been harder. (There will be much more on that coming soon.) But even so, I feel like this was the right decision.

Six months ago, I was feeling really stuck. I wasn’t loving the city I lived in, I was exhausted working four day jobs, and even though I called myself a theatre artist, I was feeling equally uninspired to do anything creative.

We’re Adam and Rose. We like seeing new places, meeting new people, and eating new things. We’ve already experienced some things we never thought we’d see and have a suitcase full of stories and insights that we want to share.

And we’d rather spend our 65th birthdays reminiscing about our adventures than wishing that we’d started travelling earlier.
